I wish I had a better day to write about, but alas, I do not. I was in St. Mary's today, and for those that read my journal regularly, or read my facebook updates, you know this is not one of my favorite days. Today was a bit worse than usual because we had an All Staff meeting this afternoon. I've been fortunate to avoid those in the other two counties, but St. Mary's has decided to have them on Thursdays, so...I'm screwed.

I started my day out the way I usually do in St. Mary's. I came in, found the files that needed to be processed in my drawer, divided them between the ruled outs and the unsubstantiated/indicateds as they are dealt with differently. I sent closing and appeal letters for the unsubstantiated and indicated cases and entered their data into my spreadsheets so I can keep track of them and then I moved on to the ruled out files. I went through and made a list of files that had past their 63 day appeal period and pulled those files. Then I began barcoding all of the ruled outs and the closed files. Once I finished entering them into our bar coding system, labeling them, and moving them electronically in the system, I moved them physically to the file room.

All of that took most of the morning. I spent way more time than I planned to searching for the most current and correct address of an appellant so I could send off the letters to the right place. I also had to process a new appeal notice and alert everyone who worked on that case of the upcoming appeal.

After lunch, we had an ice cream social, and I sat with my pseudo supervisor until it was time to go to the meeting. The ice cream was just sort of an enticement to come to the meeting, though it's mandatory, so there really wasn't any way around it. The meeting went longer than I anticipated, so I left later than usual. I felt rude just getting up and walking out while someone was talking, so I waited. It was kind of a boring meeting, little had anything to do with me, and the little that did isn't something I can really change or control anyway.

I came home with Denise, got her dinner ready and then we've been relaxing ever since. Not a really interesting day, but that was my day at any rate.
