So, I've seen a couple of my LJ friends doing this and I think it'd be nice to do something other than rant about drama. It'd be nice to focus on happier things and from what I've seen of what other people have written, it might help me to be a little introspective and less reactive for at least one entry per day. ;)

Here we go...

Introductions...My name is Katie, I'm a single mom to a little girl named Denise. I finished my Associates Degree in English in January of this year and will start my second semester of my Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies this September. I'm attending school full time at the moment at UMUC and I work part time for the State of Maryland as a paralegal. My "official" title is Appeals Coordinator, but paralegal is easier to explain in job interviews. :) I am looking, somewhat sporadically, for full time work as I want to stick within the public sector, but the economy has been fairly dampening of my job search. I had a recent interview that was very promising, but for the most part, I'm happy to go either way. I like my hours and the extra time I get to spend with my daughter with my current job, but I'd also like the promise of more financial stability a full time job would allow. Either way, I hope to finish my degree sometime between the end of 2011 and the end of 2012. After that, I hope to pursue law school, complete my legal degree and continue a career in law as an attorney.

I greatly enjoy writing, and have not let go of my first love for it even with the switch in educational major as I've kept a minor in English. I'm an avid reader and have spent most of my summer sabbatical from school reading everything from classical literature to more modern series like Harry Potter. In addition to my daughter, the people closest to me would include my best friend since childhood, my boyfriend and my father. Their support and love have helped me to overcome some of life's greatest obstacles.
